Blink-182, Motley Crue and Iron Maiden lead in the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame's in-museum "Voice Your Choice" fan vote. Fans can cast their ballot in person at the Hall Of Fame museum, using the "Voice Your Choice" interactive section in the new Hall Of Fame Gallery.
More than 80,000 votes have been cast at the museum in Cleveland during the year, with the Crue at 3152 votes as of this past weekend, followed by Blink-182 at 2217, Iron Maiden at 1771, and Dave Matthews Band at 1552. The Crue has been gaining votes since the release of the band's biopic The Dirt on Netflix last March.
Anyone who visits the museum is allowed to take part in the poll, which is separate from the annual fan vote that takes place once the nominees have been revealed.
A number of hard rock and metal bands, including the Crue, Maiden, Judas Priest and Motorhead, have yet to make the Hall of Fame. 2012 inductee Slash, who went in as a member of Guns N' Roses, told us a while back the absence of certain acts was glaring: ["There's so many artists that haven't been nominated, and it's really, really suspicious because there's a lot of people that have been inducted that do not fall into the category of rock n' roll, and it starts to seem really biased. There's a slew of artists that haven't been nominated, let alone inducted, that it's unforgivable under the moniker 'Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.'"] SOUNDCUE (:20 OC: . . . Hall of Fame.')
The official nominees for the Class Of 2020 will be announced on October 15th. The artists who get the most votes will be announced around December and will be inducted at a ceremony next spring.
