A hysterical new Elvis Presley video has been produced to promote video has been produced to publicize the new Live 1969 box. The clip — featuring all new animation — features Elvis onstage in 1969 during his inaugural Las Vegas residency giving a truly funny shorthand look at his life and career thus far.

A few new items have been released in celebration of "The King's" 1969 comeback — the massive, 11-CD, 50th anniversary box set of Elvis' performances at the International Hotel in Las Vegas, titled Live 1969; the special two-LP Live At The International Hotel, Las Vegas, NV – August 26, 1969, and American Sound 1969 featuring 90 rare and previously unreleased outtakes from his American Sound Sessions in Memphis.

Elvis Presley knew his film years had run their course after releasing an astounding 29 movies between 1956 and 1969. He explained that the one thing missing from his career was interacting with his fans in concert: ["I think the most important thing is the inspiration that I got from a live audience. I was missing that. I enjoy it. It's a live audience and it makes a world of difference."] SOUNDCUE (:08 OC: . . . world of difference)

Elvis' lead guitarist and bandleader James Burton joined him in 1969 when he returned to live performances. Burton, who played every live show with "The King" between 1969 and 1977, recalled Elvis always putting his fans first, and often would spend up to six hours on stage per night, just to try to reach as many people as he could: ["In Vegas, we did two shows a night and sometimes three shows. We'd do an extra show at like 2 or 3 o'clock in the morning for the employees who couldn't see the show."] SOUNDCUE (:11 OC: . . . see the show)
