Andy Anderson, an early drummer for the Cure, died yesterday (February 26th) of cancer at age 68. Ultimate Classic Rock reported that Anderson has posted on social media back on February 17th that he was suffering from terminal Stage 4 cancer.
Anderson, who was only briefly in the band, was featured on the Cure's albums The Cure Singles Nov 82 : Nov 83 from 1983,1984's The Top, and Concert: The Cure Live. Over the years, Anderson also played with Iggy Pop, Hawkwind, Peter Gabriel, former Sex Pistols bassist Glen Matlock, and Midge Ure, among others.
The Cure will be inducted into The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on March 29th — Andy Anderson was not listed among the 10 members of the band to be inducted.
